Mombasa County was one of the most affected counties in the country which led to cessation of movement into and out of the county. It was on this note on 11th and 12th June, 2020 the beautiful women of Mombasa Women of Faith Network took the fighting spirit against the COVID-19 pandemic to the streets of Free-town slum; Nyali sub-County and Amzon slum, Mvita sub-County to sensitize the community on the virus. With the support of Mensen met een Missie (MM) and Kenya Community Support Center (KECOSCE) through their partnership with the Inter-religious Council of Kenya (IRCK) the women were able to grace the community with masks and sanitizers to help in prevention of the deadly virus that has disrupted all aspects of life.
The women were grateful for the overwhelming support from the County Government which proved that we are not alone in this fight. The one thing that beats an enemy is unity which the women from different religions proved by coming together to create COVID-19 awareness in a dialect the people of Mombasa understood which is Swahili and Mijikenda.
